Weaving through an undulating tree-lined landscape and several lakes, Abacoa is considered one of South Florida's finest public golf experiences. It's unusual for this part of the state, but Joe Lee's design provides elevation changes of 40 feet. These dramatic heights provide scenic views and create an array of exciting shots. In typical Lee style, hazards meet fairways with little obstruction, offering a challenging, yet fair course.

Designed in 1971 by Robert Simmons, an associate of famed architect Dick Wilson, this very interesting layout demands you to hit it straight. Tight fairways are framed by soaring pines, impressive oaks, and solid ficus trees. Golf Digest rated this course as a must play in Palm Beach County.

You'll find Cypress Creek just south of West Palm in Boynton Beach. Designed by noted course architect Robert von Hagge, this fun course offers plenty of room off the tee. With hardly any water to be found, it makes for a perfect selection for the first day of your trip. However, don't consider it a breather as Von Hagge layouts always demand careful course management. Clubhouse facilities include a popular dining room and lounge serving mid-day meals.

Originally designed in 1975 by George Fazio and his nephew Tom, this private course is a "must play" for any golfer staying in the Palm Beaches. Over the summer of 2007, the club completely rebuilt all eighteen greens and converted them to state-of-the-art TifEagle turf grass, thus providing players with far superior putting surfaces than ever before. Additionally, as part of the renovation, every bunker on the course was rebuilt, and all tees were laser-leveled. Set on 135 acres, the layout features over 2000 trees, and numerous water hazards. With so many trees, you'll find the experience here to be more reminiscent of golf in the Carolinas than South Florida. Located just west of the Florida Turnpike between Hood and Donald Ross Road, Eastpointe is accessible from local area hotels.

Upon opening, Florida Golf Magazine called The Links at Madison Green "the best new course in Florida." John Sanford did a fabulous job designing this unique golf course. Located just a short drive from West Palm in Royal Palm Beach, Madison Green is becoming a popular venue for both out of town golfers and locals. Sanford's vision of what championship golf should be comes alive with this collection of challenging holes. The holes are tremendous, but the layout's best feature is arguably the TifEagle Bermuda greens. Play it!

North Palm Beach Country Club reopened in the fall of 2006 after undergoing an extensive renovation by Jack Nicklaus. Mr. Nicklaus' work here was his way of personally giving back to the community in which he has lived and raised his family for over 30 years. The redesign of the course stretched what was once a 6,300-yard layout to 7,030 yards from the tips, while offering a challenging yet playable course for members and visitors of all ages and abilities. The design features a nice balance of holes that move both directions, with ample room to drive your ball. The naturally beautiful water features complement the strategy of the overall design and lend to a visually appealing golf experience. In typical Nicklaus fashion, the greens and surrounds are challenging and offer a variety of shot options depending on where approach shots come to rest. Take it from us, North Palm Beach CC is a definite "must play"!

The area's most challenging municipal course, Palm Beach Gardens lies 15 minutes northwest of the Palm Beaches, just minutes off I-95. Designed by Roy Case, who also designed Cobblestone in Stuart, the course features tight, rolling fairways with water on 13 holes. A natural habitat borders the entire course so there are no homes in sight! Do not let the shorter length fool you; emphasis is on shot placement and proper club selection.

The Champion Course at PGA National Resort & Spa was built with tournament play in mind. Originally laid out by Tom Fazio and redesigned by Jack Nicklaus in 1990, the Champion has played host to some of golf's biggest events including the 1983 Ryder Cup, the 1987 PGA Championship and the PGA Seniors' Championship from 1982-2000. Currently the host of the PGA TOUR's Honda Classic each March, the Champion continues to wow and challenge the world's best players year in and year out. Ernie Els took home the title in 1998 with a big finish in Sunday's final round. Designated by Nicklaus as "The Bear Trap," holes 11, 15, 16 and 17 provide one of the toughest stretches in all of golf. However, with five sets of tees you can choose the challege that's right for you.

An outstanding layout that challenges golfers of all skill levels, The Haig is named for Walter Hagen, who always took time to stop and smell the roses on his way to winning 11 major championships including five PGA championships in the 1920s. The resort honors his memory by placing rose bushes at the course's 150-yard markers. This Tom Fazio design was the first to open at PGA Natioanal and remains one of the resort's most popular courses.

Named for its designer, Arnold Palmer, The Palmer was dedicated on February 28, 1984. Its design is reminiscent of the Scottish links tradition. Undulating fairways, grass bunkers and a double green shared by the 8th and 12th holes recall golf's old world heritage. In conjunction with the Arnold Palmer Golf Design Group, the popular course underwent significant renovations in 2007. These included a new greenside irrigation system, ensuring the success of the course's new state-of-the-art grass, Champion Turf Bermuda; redesigned native landscaping; re-shaped and rebuilt holes and bunkers; and all new laser-leveled tee locations featuring a minimum of four tees per hole.

Although it is the shortest of the five courses, this "thinking man's course" demands accurate drives to narrow fairways and pinpoint approaches to the greens. Named for Gene Sarazen, the first man to win all four of professional golf's Grand Slam titles, The Squire rewards a game as elegant and precise as the man himself. The Squire has more natural environmental areas than the other courses on property. Teeming with native vegetation, these areas attract an abundance of wildlife. The 5th hole oruns along part of the wilderness preserve, which borders the west side of the PGA National community.

With the professional, service-oriented staff, guests who play here can be assured they will be treated like The President. The club features two 18-hole championship courses, the North and the South. The South is the longer of the two and presents many classic holes with beautifully framed doglegs and aesthetic water features in play. The shorter North course plays slightly over 6,100 yards and is a good test of golf in its own right. It features classic tree-lined doglegs and challenges golfers by requiring a solid mental approach and good shot making. The Mark Mahannah layout at Village Golf Club has been considered one of Southeast Florida's most popular public access facilities since it opened in the late 1960's. In 2008, the owners renovated the course, including the expansion of all 18 greens and re-grassing them with Jones Dwarf Bermuda. Although many holes are beautifully framed by pristine lakes, if you can "miss it straight" you should be safe, as you'll find generous landing areas. Additionally, the clubhouse was completely rebuilt, and now features the 19th hole and full service bar, a top of the line pro shop, and new locker rooms. Located 15 minutes west of Palm Beach in Royal Palm Beach, the course is convenient to the airport for both first and last day play.
